Welcome and Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our little photo blog- we hope you enjoy the photos!

What's this blog about you ask? There's a small group of us who decided to create a blog for the lost stories and photos of Minnesota. Some photos might have names attached but we might need help identifying the others.

Why is it called Lost Stories and Photos? It's rather simple actually. Photos tell a story. We have lots of photos that we have no clue who the people are so their stories are lost. Hopefully not forever. Most photos posted will have a general location, some will have names, and others are a complete loss to their identity. We may also include older family photos at times for those working on genealogy.

What do we hope to accomplish? We hope to find the identities of the people in the photos, learn more about them, and hopefully meet people we are related to! And share with others- maybe you will find someone in your family.

Where did these photos come from? These are photos that have been handed down to us from other family members or they have been purchased at garage/estate sales or ebay. It's difficult to go to a sale and see someones family album and history about to be lost (Are they going to throw them away if they don't sell? What's going to happen to them? Will they be lost forever?).

What if I know someone in the photo? Yay! Please let us know who and any other information you would like to share. If they are not our family photo, we will do our best to reunite the photos to the family.

Is it limited to Minnesota? No. We just happen to have a lot from MN because we live here :)

Can I use there photos? If you are interested in using these photos for your personal family tree, please do. If you are wanting to make money off of these...well shame on you (go find your own) as we are NOT OK with you using our photos for profit. We are fans of free genealogy. Update: February 2018- we have started uploading books out of copyright and some select photos to the Internet Archive. Those are free of copyright/waived our copyright, so use those as you want.

The photos do not save as high dpi when I save them and are hard to see, what can I do?
Email us and we'd be happy to send you a higher quality photo. We scan 600 dpi's but when they upload to blogger, they do not stay this. Depending on how many you need, how busy we are, the amount of requests from others, the time may take a while but we will do our best to get them to you as soon as possible.

Why are there multiple blogs linked to this account? This was an error when we created this blog. We were worried if we deleted this blog that we would lose the name, so this one is here to stay linked to the others for better or worse. One of the other blogs is called called Living with Behcet's (a rare autoimmune disorder). Warning: It's not for the youngsters or those who do not like harsher words. (You've been warned). The other blog is called Vintage Newspapers & More. These are newspapers, books, & other like items that have been handed down to us or we have found at estate/garage sales.

With this being said, we hope you like these photos. Bear with us while we navigate the world of blogging and figure out how we want the blog to look. Photos will be added as we have time.
