A couple of unknown soldiers. Could be from Clarkfield or surrounding areas, or possibly Minneapolis. Likely from Minnesota as they were in photos from the Gunderson side.

Possibly Haugen's from the Clarkfield, MN area

We are pretty confident these are Haugen's from the Clarkfield, MN area in these two photos. We believe they are Rasmus and Maline Haugen's grandchildren or great-grandchildren, with the possibility of one of two of Ramsus and Maline's children in the photo. Possible people in the photos: Sina and Christ Strand, Iver and Olina, Robert and Julia, Andrew, Abraham, Oline and Hans Strand. Two unknown girls from the Clarkfield, MN area.

These two girls are unknown at this time. The post card was sent to Hannah Gunderson (Hannah's name was spelled incorrectly- "Hanna", with no names but Hannah's. They are very likely from the Clarkfield, MN area.

Unknown man on tractor, probably a Haugen from the Clarkfield area. 

Unknown boy? or girl?- looks like they are wearing a fake mustache/beard- look closely and you can see the elastic band holding it in place. From the Clarkfield area- Possibly a Haugen, Larson, Gunderson, or a family friend of theirs.

Unknown people who attended Henry Jacobson's 75th birthday party, 1958, Clarkfield, MN

This is a photo from Henry Jacobson's 75th birthday on 10-6-1958. The reason we are posting this is because there are so many people from the Clarkfield, MN area. Unfortunately the photo is a bit blurry- there's no fixing it as far as we know. We recognize quite a few people from the church photos in this photo but are unsure of their names.

Who we know for sure:
Henry and Emma Jacobson are third row up from the bottom above the dog. Mabel Danielson is third row up, third in from right.

Unknown soldier, Minnesota, 1944

Unknown soldier with Phyllis and Arden Gunderson. He is likely from Minneapolis, MN. Probably taken around 1944 or early 1945. Friend of theirs or possibly someone from her family.

Two ladies from Austin, MN- J. C. Pickett and Bermer

After speaking with my grandmother, she says they were friends of the Zupp family in Austin, MN- J. C. Pickett and Bermer. She couldn't remember their full names or if they are spelled correctly. Anyone recognize them?

Kezar relatives, Unknown

These are likely Kezar relatives but not 100% sure. They were in a book of mainly Kezar's with occasional Lundquist's from our grandmother. George and Elvina Kezar are our grandma's grandparents. Her mother is their child, Edna Lundquist (Kezar). If you recognize anyone, please let us know. Other Kezar possibilities are:

1)  Labeled 1-1941

2) Thinking this is the generation before- it's a photonote (says it on the back)- we believe this is one of the twins- Elvina or Lovina, unfortunately we have no other baby photos of them to compare with.

 3) Unknown, no marks/dates but next to photos labeled 1941

4) We thought this might be Geraldine Kezar based on other photos we have, however, we cannot find anything stating she had children. And based on the label of 1-1941, she would have had to have the child at age 17. She didn't marry until 1945 in Florida to a Andre Enard. So the question remains, who are these two?

 5) These were also with the Kezar photos, but we do not recognize them as the Kezar brothers, so maybe they were friends or the husbands?

6) This one was next to the photo above. We don't recognize her as one of the Kezar girls, so thinking a friend of theirs.

This photo was labeled Jeanne. The photo was in a stack from Blooming Prairie. Dates on the photos labeled 1952.

Three Men Ice Skating, MN- Unknown names/location

This is a photo of three men ice skating. It was in a box of pictures from the Gunderson's, so possibly Gunderson's, Larson's, or their friends. Unfortunately their faces are pretty blurry. We liked the photo and wanted to share it. We haven't run across any vintage photos of ice skating in our finds other than this.

Emil Norgaard and Alfred Nelson's mother, Denmark, date unknown

This is Emil Norgaard's mother. After a long time researching, we finally found her name thanks to FamilySearch.org. She is Mary Jenson from Denmark. Her husband is Jen Nelson from Denmark. This is all we know about them.


We do know some about her son's Emil and Alfred, both also from Denmark. Here it is: 

Emil immigrated to the USA in 1907 from Denmark. His father's and mother's place of birth is Denmark. The ship name Emil arrived on was called the Carmania. The ship departed Liverpool on 4/9/1907 and arrived in New York on 4/18/1907. He was age 26 and listed as a farmer laborer. Danish is listed as his nationality and race is listed as Scandinavian. His destination was listed as Albert Lea, MN to join his brother Alfred Nielson in Geneva, Freeborn County, MN.

 Some family oral history regarding them. Emil and Alfred both lived in Blooming Prairie later in life/time of death. They told people they came over together on the same ship, but we now know this is not true- so perhaps other brothers came over with them that we aren't aware of? Or perhaps they just meant the same ship, but at different times? Emil said he changed his last name when he came over because everyone was saying their last name was Nelson and no one said Norgaard. However, given records, we also question this. Alfred has a different last name from Emil, so it would be possible (the reason we question it is because of the DDD Emigration Database- why would his name be listed over there as Norgaard, but not change when at the USA despite that being the family story)- anyways, Alfred's last name is listed as Nielsen per immigration record of Emil. 


What we know of Alfred Nelson:

We recently tracked down an obit about Alfred thanks for FamilySearch.org. Alfred's nickname was "Happy". We know he immigrated in 1904 from Denmark. He was not married per Norgaard family oral history. He committed suicide in 1935 in the West Hotel in Blooming Prairie. He had been in a car accident in February 1935, resulting in head trauma and other issues (this likely contributing to his death).
We have not been able to track down much more than that at this point.

	We are hoping that as we continue our search, we can find out more about their relatives, specifically Jen and Mary Nelson of Denmark. We know he settled in Albert Lea prior to Blooming Prairie, despite his obit stating Blooming Prairie was the only place he settled.

Larson & Tinderholt, Norway, Iowa, Minnesota

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2017:
Been in contact with a Larson family member (not sure if I can say her name- have to ask), but want to say she says this is Peter's brother and his family. The photo was labeled Hans Larson in pencil (not Arden's writing, which is who we inherited the photo from, so unknown source of the writing). So you will have to be the judge as to who is in this photo.

Some people in the photo we can identify, others we can't. Be warned the story that goes with this family may be difficult to read.
Who we can identify in the photo: Hans Peter Larson is the child in front in the middle standing, next to him is his father Peter Larson Tinderholt, to the other side of Hans is his mother Marie Larson, and his sister, Anna Marie Larson, is sitting in the mom's lap.
We are unsure of the remainder of the people in the photo- possibly Peter's siblings or other relatives. We do not know about Marie's relatives. This photo would have been taken around 1867, about a year prior to Anna's death at the hands of her father (He beat her to death). After Anna's death, Marie divorced Peter. This photo would have been taken in Ossian, Winneshiek, Iowa, United States as that is where the family was living at the time.
As for the different last names, some records indicated the last name is Larson, while others indicate Tinderholt, or a combo of Larson Tinderholt. Per our written history (the Larson's), all of Peter's children took the last name Larson.

 1) Alvin & Marie (Larson) Knutsvig. Marie's parents are Lewis Oley & Emma (Erickson Holeman) Larson from Iowa. Photo frame says Reynolds- Decorah, Iowa. 

2) Leland and Audrey (Winson) McCoy from Clarkfield, MN. Audrey's parents are Clarence and Sylvia (Gunderson) Winson. Photo frame says Ringsven Studio Granite Falls.

3) Unknown couple. Frame says Hollett- Waterloo, Iowa. Possibly relatives of the Larson's from Clarkfield.

4)  Gurina (Gunderson) and Ray Mauland from Clarkfield, MN. 

5)   Harold & Mary Borchardt. Most likely from Minnesota.

Betty Lou, Minneapolis or Clarkfield, Minnesota

This lovely lady is Betty Lou. Unfortunately we do not know anything else about her. She is likely from Clarkfield or Minneapolis and was friends with the Gunderson's or Larson's. The photo frame has The Miller Studios in Minneapolis.

Bill, unknown, Montana, Minneapolis, Clarkfield, Minnesota

This young gentleman is named Bill. Probably lived in Minneapolis or Clarkfield next to the Gunderson's, or potentially related. Inside the photo frame are handwritten words "Hannah, Benny, Arden. Love Bill". It was sent to the Gunderson when they lived in Minneapolis based on the year the photo looks. Photo frame has Meiers, Polson, Mont. on it.

Young gentleman Clarkfield or Minneapolis, Minnesota

Unknown young gentleman likely from Clarkfield or possibly Minneapolis. Would have been a relative or neighbor to the Gunderson's or Larson's most likely. No marking on photo or frame.

Unknown Navy Man from Clarkfield, MN

Unknown Navy man. Per a family members memory, this gentleman was a friend of the Gunderson's from Clarkfield, MN. Unfortunately, he couldn't recall his name.
